EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUES (EFT)

EFT Tapping Points Map

Description:

Often referred to as psychological acupuncture without the needles, EFT uses tapping with your fingertips on specific meridian points on the body to stimulate the flow of energy. Traditional Chinese Medicine teaches us that negative emotions block the flow of energy in the body. In order to restore the natural flow of energy the blockage needs to be neutralized. The part of your brain known as the amygdala acts as your body’s alarm system. When you experience trauma or fear, the alarm is tripped and your body is washed with stress hormones. The association between stress and illness is well documented. Practiced effectively, EFT combines cognitive and exposure therapy to resolve the emotional traumas that create these blocked energies.

Benefits:

There is a growing understanding of the link between emotional issues and physical ailments. The EFT process is very safe, gentle and easy to use. EFT has been successfully used in the treatment of anxiety, stress, depression, addictions, post traumatic stress disorder, phobias and numerous physical ailments including pain and chronic health issues often providing results when nothing else has been effective. It has been recognized as an evidence based practice by the American Psychological Association “Review of General Psychology” (Feinstein, 2012).

Contraindications:

There are no contraindications. EFT is simple and painless and can be learned by anyone. EFT is not intended to diagnose or replace any physical or psychological treatment however it is an effective adjunctive therapy.
